Don Polk Senior Pastor
Don was born and raised in Pennsville, NJ. He graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1974. Upon graduation he attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. It was during his junior year in college that he prayed for and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. After graduating with biochemistry and psychology degrees, Don spent the next few years working as a pharmaceutical representative for the duPont Company. It was during this time that he felt God’s call in his life to enter the ministry full time. He enrolled in Asbury Theological Seminary and received his M.Div. degree in 1985. His first appointment was as the Associate Minister at Pitman United Methodist Church where he served from 1985 to 1991. He was appointed in 1991 as the senior pastor of Aldine United Methodist Church where he has served for 28 years. Don has been a member of the A.A.C.C. (American Association of Christian Counselors) and also served as a chaplain for the Chapel of Four Chaplains in Philadelphia. He is a chaplain for the Salem County Fraternal Order of Police, a member of the Board of Directors at South Seaville Camp Meeting and a volunteer chaplain for the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. Don and his wife, Laurie, married in 1980. They have three sons Rob and his wife Kristen, Chris and his wife Marie, and Kevin and his wife Gemma. They are also blessed with 4 grandchildren, Reese, Mckinley, Lincoln and Harrison.
Mike Chapman Associate Pastor
Mike grew up in the coal mining town of Shamokin, PA. It was in this town that his faith was shaped and formed by the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He also acquired his love for music and hard work, as he was a part of the high school band and lived among those who were geared toward a hard-working life conducive to the geographical area. Later, he attended Eastern University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Youth Ministry. He also met the love of his life, Jacqueline, and married soon after college on November 16th, 2002. In his college experience he interned at Hope Community Church and also gained interest in using drama and theatre in ministry. He developed a good understanding of community and enjoyed a wide range of ecumenical conversation through the many denominations represented at Eastern University. After college, Mike and his wife Jacqueline, settled at Aldine UMC and have been serving in various ways since. He has used creative ways to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music, drama, theatre, teaching and preaching. Mike has served in various roles and various ways such as youth pastor, young adult pastor, visitation pastor and worship pastor. Currently Mike has blended them all together serving as an assistant pastor. During his stay at Aldine he went to Palmer Theological Seminary and obtained a Masters of Divinity Degree and has earned credits in Clinical Pastoral Education. Mike and Jacqueline also have two children. A son named Micah, and a daughter named Grace. Mike enjoys serving at Aldine and continues to look forward to what God has in-store for him and his family in the future.
John Whitt Youth Pastor
John grew up in Alloway, NJ. Because of his parents jobs required them to live on the Ranch Hope for Boys’ campus, he enjoyed a unique experience in growing up in a diverse environment. It was here that he found his love for people. He attended Salem County Christian Academy from kindergarten through twelfth grade, where he was active in their sports, drama, and student council programs. He was also very active in the youth group at Aldine United Methodist Church (UMC). It was through the youth group and an event called IMPACT that John rededicated his life for Christ. After graduating high school, John attended the University of Kentucky earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was here that God provided many opportunities for him including being the State Director for the Kentucky Association of Residence Halls (KARH), President of the University of Kentucky’s Resident Student Association, and Student Government Senate President, College of Engineering Ambassador, and conference chair of a regional conference of over 600 people. After college, John married his best friend Maggie Sabota on November 19, 2011, who is also an Aldine UMC youth group alumni. He also began working for the US Army Aberdeen Test Center as a mechanical engineer where he currently works today. He has volunteered in various capacities including Aldine UMC youth leader, Salem County Christian Academy board member, and Ranch Hope/Camp Edge Auxiliary. He also obtained his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. On September 26, 2016 John and Maggie were blessed with their first child Elijah David Whitt. He is both blessed and proud to be serving as youth pastor in the church he grew up in. He loves the people at Aldine and enjoys letting out his “inner child” as he serves God by interacting with the youth. John enjoys playing and watching sports, spending time with family, watching movies, playing board games, and hanging out with friends.
